Candidates are called for interview according to their experience, qualifications and background.
At interview it is those with the right attitude who are given another bite of the cherry and it is one of these who will eventually receive an offer.
We choose our life partners in much the same way: we look at them, we notice how they dress, what they do for a living, where they live - all sorts of superficial things go into the mix.
Then, after this initial assessment and if they pass muster, we engage with them further but eventually it is their moral compass and values, their character traits and attitude, their personality and how they make us feel that determines our final decision.
As Zig Ziglar famously said, "Attitude not aptitude determines altitude."
The lesson? if you are at the interview stage, it is HOW you put yourself across rather than WHAT you put across that will determine the outcome.
